Missouri River Navigation

The normal navigation season length is 8 months on the Missouri River. The normal dates that flow targets are supported by the Missouri River Main Stem Dams are as follows;

In years of greater than normal water supply, the navigation season is extended as both an additional evacuation measure and to provide an increased benefit to navigation while striving to reach the base of the annual flood control zone by 1 March the following season.
